👧🧒 Minors Policy

Class Threads is a community marketplace used by students, parents, alumni, and schools. This policy explains how minors may buy and sell on the platform and what is required for safe, supervised use.


🧭 Who Is Considered a Minor

For the purposes of this policy and all Class Threads services:

  • Anyone 13–17 years old (or, in Canada, under the age of majority in their province/territory) is considered a Minor.

  • Individuals under 13 are not permitted to use Class Threads.

  • If we become aware of an account belonging to someone under 13, it will be deleted.


👨👩👧 Parent / Guardian Permission & Supervision

Minors may buy and sell on Class Threads only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

Parent/Guardian Requirements

  • A parent or legal guardian must provide their full name and contact details.

  • The parent/guardian becomes the Class Threads Account Owner for the Minor’s seller account.

  • The Account Owner is responsible for all activity on the Minor’s account.

  • Class Threads may request additional information to verify parent/guardian identity for compliance, safety, and fraud prevention.

This structure ensures safe participation for minors while maintaining clear accountability.


💳 Financial & Payout Restrictions

Minors may only use payout or redemption methods where the financial account belongs to the Class Threads Account Owner (the parent/guardian).

This ensures:

  • secure handling of funds

  • compliance with financial regulations

  • clear responsibility for transactions


🛍️ Buying & Selling Rules for Minors

🏡 Local Pickup / Dropoff (Default)

  • Buyers and sellers coordinate meeting times and locations directly.

  • Public, well‑lit locations are recommended.

  • Meeting at a home address is allowed only if both parties agree.

  • Buyers should inspect items before accepting them.

📦 Shipping (Optional)

If shipping is used:

  • The seller chooses the carrier, packaging, and shipping cost.

  • The seller provides tracking.

  • Class Threads does not handle shipping, labels, or returns.


🛡️ Safety Expectations

We recommend that minors:

  • meet in public places

  • bring a friend or family member if preferred

  • avoid sharing personal information unless comfortable

  • trust their instincts and decline any meeting that feels unsafe

Class Threads does not supervise or monitor in‑person exchanges.


🚫 Prohibited Activities for Minors

Minors may not:

  • create accounts without parent/guardian involvement

  • sell restricted or age‑limited items

  • misrepresent their age

  • engage in unsafe or inappropriate meeting arrangements


🛡️ Marketplace Role & Limitations

To keep the platform safe and simple, Class Threads does not:

  • act as a party to any transaction

  • supervise or verify in‑person meetings

  • handle shipping, returns, or refunds

  • guarantee item condition

  • mediate disputes between buyers and sellers

All delivery arrangements are made directly between the buyer and seller.
